Fractional Chief Strategy Officer (CSO)
Strategy has always been a key function for the CEO and senior leadership of the organization. Over decades this role has subtly evolved with the changing market landscapes, customer preferences, globalization, product innovations, technologies, and the digital world.
As AI takes centerstage in the workflows, information management, and automation, of processes, and promises to further integrate with other technologies like robotics, automobiles, industrial machinery, drones, and appliances, strategy will increasingly focus on the disruption, transformation, and opportunities that are coming our way.
The Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) works closely with senior leadership including CEO, and heads of various functions to research, benchmark, analyze, provide information, create dashboards, and review strategic options. The CSO is a key role that is structured around research, analysis, information collection, and stratecgic scenarios simulation, working in close collaboration with CEO and functional heads.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Understanding organization mission, goals, strengths, and challenges, and reviewing these with senior leadership
- Assessing talent and resources, and ways to utilize them for the large good of the organization
- Carrying out industry and peer analysis, and looking at various strategies and tactics being deployed
- Working out various strategic scenarios for the organization
- Formulating strategies with senior leadership for various roles and functions
- Documenting and creating implementation and action plans
- Designing dashboards for continuous review and improvements across roles and functions
- Measuring key numbers and reviewing these regularly for performance benchmarking and correction
